Come, Join With Us

As I mentioned in my first blogpost, I am a Mormon. This weekend, we have a great opportunity to listen to the Prophet Thomas S Monson. Twice a year we have General Conference when we have a chance to hear the present-day revelation. As important as it is to keep myself physically healthy and fed, it is important to be spiritually fed. As the conference starts tomorrow, I wanted to share two talks that I keep close to my heart.

Firstly, Dieter F Uchtdorf speaks in his talk about what our church is about and invites you to come along! This reminds us that the Church is perfect but the people in it are not. (If you expect to find perfect people here, you will be disappointed.)

He speaks:

‘If you seek truth, meaning, and a way to transform faith into action; if you are looking for a place of belonging: Come, join with us!

If you have left the faith you once embraced: Come back again. Join with us!

If you are tempted to give up: Stay yet a little longer. There is room for you here.

I plead with all who hear or read these words: Come, join with us. Come heed the call of the gentle Christ. Take up your cross and follow Him.

Come, join with us! For here you will find what is precious beyond price.’

This speaks so much truth!

The second talk is by Cheryl A. Esplin, she speaks about being an instrument in the Lord’s hand. Showing true love of Christ and offer service to our fellowmen.

She speaks:

‘All of us can incorporate some service into our daily living. We live in a contentious world. We give service when we don’t criticize, when we refuse to gossip, when we don’t judge, when we smile, when we say thank you, and when we are patient and kind.

Other kinds of service take time, intentional planning, and extra energy. But they are worth our every effort. Perhaps we could start by asking ourselves these questions:

Who in my circle of influence could I help today?

What time and resources do I have?

In what ways can I use my talents and skills to bless others?

What might we do as a family?’

What a beautiful thought! We can serve and love others by just being patient and kind. I hope I can serve my family and friends each day.

I was a Stranger: Love One Another – here is a little video about loving one another!

If you liked these two thoughts, come and join us at the General Conference that you can access online! You do not have to sit and listen to all talks at once, they will all be uploaded, so you can listen to them anytime you would like!

I am very excited for the General Conference this year.

Lots of love,
